A group of people walking across a shallow river in Iceland’s highlands, heading toward tents pitched on grassy terrain.
A breathtaking view of Thórsmörk Valley with lush green hills, braided rivers, and dramatic mountain ridges under a partly cloudy sky.

Stay in Thorsmörk

Journey along Iceland’s stunning south coast to the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano, then venture into Þórsmörk, an adventure paradise surrounded by glaciers, volcanoes, birch forests, and dramatic scenery. To get there, we cross unbridged rivers and rugged terrain – an experience in itself!

Our destination is a simple and cozy mountain hut in Þórsmörk, nestled in a sheltered valley with breathtaking views of jagged peaks and lush greenery. This is a place where nature feels close and powerful.

The hut offers basic comforts: electricity, heating, and cold water. WC facilities are in a nearby building.

We start by exploring the area and enjoying a welcome drink.
To deepen the experience, join a Sweat Ritual in a tent – a moment of physical detoxification, mental relaxation, and spiritual renewal, combined with meditation and storytelling. There are no showers in Þórsmörk, so we do as true outdoor adventurers do – use warm washcloths to freshen up after the ritual.

Like true Icelanders, we prepare a delicious meal outdoors over open coals. Dinner is served inside the charming hut surrounded by Icelandic birch forest.

During the evening, we share stories about Icelandic culture, including The Sagas, outlaw tales, Norse mythology, and the traditions of highland travel in Iceland.

When night falls, it’s time to rest. Icelanders say you never sleep better than in a tent under fresh mountain air – and we make sure you’re comfortable in high-quality tents with warm winter sleeping bags and sturdy camping beds.

If you prefer, you can sleep inside the hut instead.
The next morning, enjoy a true Icelandic breakfast in the hut before heading back through the wild beauty of Þórsmörk.

Stay at the Edge of the Highlands

Travel through the picturesque farmlands of South Iceland and into the edge of the highlands.

Our destination: Hólaskógur, a beautiful and well-equipped mountain lodge overlooking vast wilderness and rugged landscapes. Nestled among birch trees near the stunning Þjórsárdalur valley, Hólaskógur offers a serene atmosphere with panoramic views of volcanic mountains and untouched nature.

The lodge provides modern comforts: hot and cold running water, electricity, WC, and showers.

We begin by exploring the area and enjoying a welcome drink.
